5. Future Disney Classics Were Teased
The iconic opening song to Pinocchio would never be topped by any other song in the film. And the opening visual was just as memorable. Jiminy Cricket sitting atop a bookshelf, staring out of the window into a moonlit sky singing Disney’s official theme song. All eyes are transfixed on Jiminy Cricket that you might miss a couple of Easter Eggs for future Disney films.
On the left-hand side of the screen during the song are two books with the titles Alice In Wonderland and Peter Pan. Both of these films would release in 1951 and 1953 respectively. Both of these films were well into production by the time Pinocchio was released so this was a subtle way of giving viewers an idea of what was to come.
While not as common as call-backs to previous films, this wasn’t the last tease hidden within Disney films. The most recent example being in 2016’s Zootopia with Duke Weaselton, selling bootleg movies of animal versions of Disney features like the then-upcoming Moana.
