10 Female Film Characters With The Morals Of An Alley Cat

7. Girl Interrupted (1991) - Lisa Rowe

Girl Interrupted Susannah takes an overdose and is sent packing to a mental hospital where she is diagnosed as having Borderline Personality Disorder. She meets a variety of colourful characters in her stay there, but there is one person in particular who makes a big impression on her. This is diagnosed sociopath Lisa Rowe (an Oscar winning performance from Angelina Jolie) who is simultaneously charismatic and manipulative. The other girls are scared of her. Lisa's antics include: encouraging Susannah not to take her medication and to trade her pills with other people, busting out of hospital with Susannah and goading poor Daisy Randone (the most interesting character in the film played by Brittany Murphy) into suicide, casually remarking 'She was looking for an excuse' whenever a distraught Susannah finds Daisy hanging. Lisa also prances around in the middle of the night with Susannah's diary - revealing Susannah's innermost thoughts about the other girls, provoking wide spread ire. Susannah launches a verbal assault on Lisa that makes her burst out crying. This would indicate a false diagnosis of sociopathy. Sociopaths don't really do tears but Lisa is at her best being an immoral harridan barking out insults and orders to everyone and just generally being an obnoxious cow.
