10 Fierce Feuds Between Film Stars And Critics

8. Danny Dyer vs Mark Kermode

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oLJY4GVP7KE Danny Dyer and Mark Kermode were never likely candidates for a best friends forever collage. Dyer is known for his one-note performances as a well 'ard geezer with a drawling cockney accent, whereas Kermode is known for being a film critic who appreciates high-art and classic filmmaking. Dyer prides himself on his streetwise, tough-nut approach whereas Kermode has a whiff of the bourgeois about him. Nope. These two were never going to get on. Sure enough, when Kermode panned Dyer's performances and films and openly mocked him on his radio review show, Dyer responded in a typical hard-man manner: "our paths will meet, one day, and there won't be no talking. It'll probably just be a headbutt straight to the f**king nose, and then he can go off and do his impressions with a broken noseĀ€ that'd be good, wouldn't it?" This only accentuated and heated the feud further, with Kermode ripping apart Dyer's performance in the 2013 action film Vendetta, and stating "After several years of such petulant threats, I find it harder than ever to take Dyer's hackneyed hardman act seriously". The feud is worth checking out simply for Kermode's squeaky cockney impersonation of Dyer, which sounds more like a hungry dog than the voice of the London actor.
