10 Film Characters Who Inexplicably Shrugged Off Fatal Injuries

1. Starship Troopers €“ Carmen

Carmen Possibly the most ridiculous example on this list, Carmen Ibanez €“ played by Denise Richards in what was, depressingly, the high-point of her career €“ has survived stuff that would kill a Terminator. I€™m aware that the ridiculous levels of gore were a major part of the Starship Troopers film, but Christ, she shrugs off life-threatening injuries with barely a hitch. What I€™m talking about is when her and her platonic friend go headlong into a bug colony. They put up a brave fight, but end up severely outnumbered before being incapacitated so the smart bug can suck out their brains. Granted, the wound she receives wasn€™t supposed to kill her, but still, it looked pretty damned serious €“ she takes a giant mandible straight through the chest, the sort of injury that would probably result in a collapsed lung, something you can€™t really shrug off. Yet shrug off she does €“ after she€™s saved by Rico and company, she appears to be completely fine and battle-ready. Literally €“ they give her a gun and she€™s fit and firing with the best of them, before outrunning a massive blast. Remember, she€™s doing all this while badly wounded. I suppose you can blame this on adrenalin, but what happens afterward just takes the biscuit €“ in the jovial aftermath of capturing the smart bug, she€™s gaily skipping around, talking without difficulty and having a laugh and a joke with Neil Patrick Harris, all without taking an asprin. There€™s only one explanation for it €“ she€™s clearly superwoman. Agree or disagree? Can you think of any more? Feel free to comment!
