10. Cloverfield Beth
Im not a doctor, so Im not quite sure what qualifies as a mortal injury. However, I do possess the same logical faculties as any other human being on this planet, and occasionally, some injuries dont sit right with me. Case in point, Beth from Cloverfield. Much of Cloverfields plot is derived from main character Robs quest to save his girlfriend Beth after the monster has attacked New York, and thats ok. Its one way of establishing plot in the monster-goes-mental-in-a-sandbox genre, so I can get behind it, even if Rob appears to have a death wish at times. Yet its when they discover Beth in her absolutely ruined building that the whole thing raises eyebrows. When they first stumble across her, its a pretty safe bet that shes dead shes been impaled through the shoulder, shes lost consciousness and shes been there a long time. Yet apparently, she can shake that off like a trooper. Not only do they pry her free of the bar, shes then able to scale across to a separate roof, go down over 30 storeys of stairs and pretty much act the same as a regular character throughout. I dont think I need to point out how bizarre this is the womans got a damned hole at least the size of a pool ball running through her shoulder. I dont care if its not going through her vital organs, theres no way in hell that she can treat this as a flesh wound. Yet she totally does, gallivanting through the ruins of New York like it isnt even a thing and later survives a helicopter crash. This womans more durable than the Terminator, and it makes no sense at all.
