10 Film Characters Who Inexplicably Shrugged Off Fatal Injuries

8. 28 Days Later €“ Jim

Jim I€™ve pointed out before that Jim is a goddamned machine when he€™s angry, but really, he should totally be dead. The guy takes a bullet pretty square on to the front, possibly the worst place you can be shot. He€™s shirtless at the time with no armour at all, so you know it€™s done damage. Yet come film close and after an unspecified amount of time, Jim seems completely fine. I€™m sorry, but what? Jim managed to survive a mortal wound with little more than a shrug and a sleep, and this sits well with everyone? I guess you can say that the girls were able to patch him up, but that just raises further questions €“ namely, the fact that neither one of them is in any way a doctor €“ Naomie Harris€™ Selena nor Megan Burns€™ Hannah have medical experience, yet they€™re able to patch up a shot to the stomach with fairly little complications. In real life, there€™s all sorts of problems that can arise from being shot in the gut, with all sorts of complications from attempting to sort that out. Yet apparently, two completely untrained people can just circumvent everything about a delicate medical process and patch people up regardless. I know we€™re taking jumps from reality in this film €“ there are zombies running about, after all €“ but it appears to be grounded in realism, making Jim€™s recovery even more of a head-scratcher.
