10 Film Podcasts Worth Listening To

3. Battleship Pretension

Battleship Pretension is one of the highlights of my week. David Bax and Tyler Smith provide some of the most intelligent film discussion online, with topics ranging from director profiles to genre breakdowns. Over the course of the show's 278 episodes (and counting) the duo, with occasional guests, have extensively covered every topic under the sun, and yet every week a great new episode is available. This is the longest podcast on the list, with its new episode, a discussion of Comic-Con, reaching two-and-a-half hours. There are very few lulls in each episode, with the hosts always finding new things to talk about. Thirty minutes in to an episode the hosts will begin wrapping up, and then an hour later the episode is still going strong. If there is a film topic you would like to hear discussed, search the podcast's history, because it's likely been done. Here's to the next three hundred. It can be downloaded here. When is it released?: Mondays.Notable episodes: 183 (special guest: Paul F. Tompkins); 265 (special guest: Tim Buel); 258 (Oscars)
