10 Film & TV Characters Who Weren’t As Powerful As Their Usual Portrayal

5. Hercules (Hercules: The Legendary Journeys)

Hercules Sorbo Kevin Sorbo's Hercules was part of a very memorable television show, but the depiction of the titular character was much weaker than many other classic depictions. The mythological depiction of the character was one of a true demigod who literally became known as the god of strength. He was capable of slaying giants, wounding actual gods and, upon his death, he became a full-blown god himself. Other depictions have portrayed him as being strong enough to move entire cities. The Legendary Journeys version was pretty strong himself, but nowhere near as strong as many other incarnations of the character. His higher strength feats included things like punching through stone walls, hitting people and sending them flying over treetops and lifting boulders that perhaps weighed a tonne (which, given that this version was said to possess the strength of ten men, would seem about right if you consider that a healthy man could maybe bench press 200lbs). He was also shown to be durable enough to survive getting hit by boulders on occasion. However, he was often also shown in fights with ordinary humans and generally didn't appear that much stronger than them - so his strength consistency was up and down. Regardless, he was nowhere near as strong as many other depictions of the character.
