10 Filmmakers EMBARRASSED By Their Own Movies

7. David Fincher - Alien 3

The Alien franchise has been on and off life support ever since the double whammy of bad storytelling that was Alien 3 and Alien: Resurrection. Sure Ridley Scott would end up reviving it with the mediocre Prometheus and the bleak-to-the-point-of-exhaustion Alien: Covenant, but that took a long time thanks to Alien 3.

But I guarantee, however much your average Alien fan may hate Alien 3, its director, David Fincher, hates it WAY more.

The then new director constantly butted heads with the studio over pretty much everything, leading to various creative compromises throughout the movie that severely weakened the entire thing, especially in his eyes.

While the film isn't quite as bad as Fincher proclaims it to be, on the other hand, most of us weren't there when this apparently nightmarish shoot was going down, so Fincher likely knows best in that department.

Fincher would go on to be a truly legendary director, giving us films like Fight Club and Seven. But to this day, Fincher disavows the third Alien film as easily his worst project.
