10 Filmmakers EMBARRASSED By Their Own Movies
8. Tomas Alfredson - The Snowman
With the critical darlings Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and Let The Right One In under his belt, and with Martin Scorsese helping produce, you would think that Thomas Alfredson's next film, The Snowman, would be a sure thing. Well it might have been, but let's just say that a few key things held them back on this one.
For one, most of the film is not actually in the film. According to Alfredson, the whole flick was to be shot in Norway, but when they got there, the weather decided to be, well, Norway about it, and before they knew it, they had to return home.
When they got to the cutting room, they found that up to 10-15% of the film's final script was not shot, with no time to go back for a re-shoot. And boy does that explain a LOT about this movie's slapdash pacing.
The Snowman has all the pieces of a good movie, but making films is always a gamble, and sometimes the universe decides that you're gonna be taking an L this time around.
