10 Filmmakers Obsessed With ONE Thing

5. Jordan Peele - Identity

Quentin Tarantino From Dusk Till Dawn
Universal

Jordan Peele may have only directed two movies to date, but it's clear that he's fascinated by the concept of identity in both the literal and figurative sense.

Both his Oscar-winning debut Get Out and his follow-up Us literally revolve around the idea of people having their identities taken or assumed - through brainwashing and doppelgangers respectively - and given the socially conscious context of his films, this transpires into issues of race and class in particular.

While it remains to be seen where Peele's filmography will take him from here, the upcoming Candyman sequel he helped produce seems to hone in on similar themes, and given the success he's had examining identity both racial and spiritual, it's unlikely he'll veer away from it entirely anytime soon.
