Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice was a colossal disappointment, and it set the DCEU on a downward curve that it's still recovering from to this day.

People criticized its bloated story, humourless tone, and the fact that the main attraction - y'know, an actual fight between Bats and Supes - was over in a flash, but quite possibly the most derided part of the film was the Martha scene, in which the titular heroes kiss-and-make-up because their mums have the same name.

This moment has been memed to death in the years since, and director Zack Snyder is well aware of the mockery it's received, compelling him to come out and defend it:

"'Martha' - that concept is central to the film. I think it's indicative of the way that Batman v Superman was received that its central tenant was sort of belittled and made fun of. I personally think it is like this beautiful and incredibly symmetrical idea that completely finishes it as a concept."

Snyder (and screenwriter Chris Terrio) intended the Martha scene to show that Superman was a man, a person - not this completely unrelatable alien god.

It's definitely an interesting idea, but as far as the execution goes... perhaps there was a better way to do it.

He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
