10 Films Banned For Ridiculous Reasons

6. Barney's Great Adventure Is Unacceptable For Malaysian Kids

It's well established that Barney The Dinosaur is a dangerous weapon that should be classed as a torture device under the Geneva Convention. Literally, his signature song Love You" (as well as songs from Sesame Street and Metallica) have been used by interrogators at Guantanamo Bay to coerce the detainees into making up the information the CIA wanted. No word on whether or not Zero Dark Thirty saw a wide release in Malaysia, but Barney's Great Adventure €“ the 1998 cinematic outing that saw the infuriatingly cheerful purple dinosaur coming to life to bring some magic into the lives of troubled kids €“ found itself banned in the country not long after it came out. The best part is that nobody actually knows why the censors took against Barney's Greatest Adventure. They never actually said, beyond a vague statement that they found it to be unacceptable for children to watch. Which is a weird thing to stay about a film for kids.
