In her own small way, YouTuber Comic Book Girl 19 inspired this article you are now reading. For her Halloween special last October she did an epic (and really random) review of the horror comedy known simply as House II. Not only did she remind us just how underrated this film is, she also brought to our attention the fact that this film indeed has a 0% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. This is a travesty! Yeah it's silly and stupid but it's also quite enjoyable and fun. While the film is a sequel to 1986's House, it largely ignores the characters and the story-lines from the first film. While the first movie is trying to be a semi-serious horror film, the sequel is a straight up wacky and fun ordeal. The story follows the new owner of an evil house who gets involved with reanimated corpses and demons searching for an ancient Aztec skull with magic powers. House II takes us in so many different directions, it's hard to even keep track. You have an undead zombie Grandpa who is now awake, getting drunk and partying. You have a young Bill Maher being a complete d-bag (and ending up with both of the main girls of the film). The practical effects are quite impressive for its time and its just entertaining as hell. Most memorably, the movie also features what is probably the only caterpillar puppy dog in all of film. As you can see in the photo above, isn't that reason enough? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SYShjc38NTQ Do you agree or do you feel that these films got the rating that they deserved?
