10 Films Intended To Be R-Rated That Got Neutered To PG-13

Look, it hasn't been confirmed yet, but we all know where this is going.

When the Venom solo film was originally announced, it was touted as a hard-R take on the character, encouraged by the success of R-rated comic book films like Deadpool and Logan. However, as the film has gotten closer to release, the story has changed considerably.

Suddenly Tom Hardy is talking the film up at Comic-Con as his first film his ten-year-old son will be able to see and Sony is backtracking their previous comments about its rating. New reports heavily suggest that the film is being edited down from its previous R status to a much more friendly PG-13, in hopes of not only giving the film a better chance at box-office success but also in an attempt to convince Marvel Studios to let Venom be a part of their cinematic universe someday.

Rest assured that the version audiences will see in theaters come this October will be rated PG-13 and feel incredibly bland and neutered, only for Sony to then turn around and release the original R-rated cut on home release to help recoup some of their losses on this sure-to-be dumpster fire of a film.
