Because we all know Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep are desperate for work (not to mention Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci). The success and schedules of the movie's stars aside, The Devil Wears Prada had definitely not reached the end of its story when the film finished. The classic tale of the boss from hell is elevated by Streep and Hathaway's performances, with the former delivering just the right level of humanity and the latter displaying a convincing edge. Though Hathaway's Andy doesn't work for Streep's Miranda anymore, there is a still material to mine from their relationship; perhaps they are now rivals rather than colleagues. The bankability of the actors involved and need for extravagant design would surely make any sequel a home run for the studio. Plus, film Andy could finally follow in the footsteps of her book-counterpart and break up with her wet blanket boyfriend.
