10 Films That Prove We Should Fear Technology

8. Demolition Man

In Demolition Man, LAPD Sgt. John Spartan (Sylvester Stallone) is cryogenically frozen in 1996 along with the violent criminal Simon Phoenix (Wesley Snipes) having been found guilty of murder. However, when Phoenix is thawed for a parole hearing in the year 2032 and promptly escapes, Spartan is roused from his icy slumber to pursue him across the peaceful city of San Angeles. Much like Inception, Demolition Man presents us with technology that allows the human mind to be €œreprogrammed,€ this time in an effort to eliminate criminal tendencies under the guise of rehabilitation. It is at best an imperfect science. Worse though, is the realization that it€™s possible for a person to be conscious while immobilized in ice during this process, as Spartan regales the crowd with his memories of his wife and the people he tried to save.
