10 Films That Suffered In The Editing Room
2. Justice League
Contrary to what you're probably thinking, this list wasn't formed as a way of throwing stones at the DCEU franchise. Their continual presence here simply highlights just how unsure the studio were as to what film's they wanted to produce and this confusion sadly led to a few high profile cases of awful editing completely murdering any hope of a watchable movie.
Warner Bros.' answer to Marvel Studio's Avengers proved this point and then some, as The Justice League suffered massively from some truly haphazard editing.
Through no fault of the studio or Zack Snyder himself, the director was forced to leave the picture halfway through development and The Avengers' own leader, Joss Whedon, stepped in to finish the project. This led to two distinctly different tones being pumped into production and Whedon's zippy universe
was awkwardly interlaced into
the gritty stylised world of Snyder.
Critics panned this 'Avengers-lite' output and the flawed editing exposed some badly placed quips/levity that didn't mesh with the DCEU's continual misguided attempt to be overly-dark.
On top of this tonal clusterf*ck, the crappy editing meant that vital exposition was dropped so that the studio's aim of a two-hour runtime could be met.
If Snyder is to believed and a more coherent version of his film does exists in the ether, then there could be hope for DC's mighty team, yet.
That being said, it probably still wouldn't make Henry Cavill's disappearing moustache come across as any less disturbing...
