10 Films With Amazing Casts That Should Have Been SO MUCH Better

Cast: Colin Farrell, Angelina Jolie, Val Kilmer, Anthony Hopkins, Jared LetoWhat It Should Have Been Speaking of advantages, how about a film that combines a truly amazing cast of Oscar nominees with the sand and sandals story of one of the greatest military leaders in history? Alexander tells the story of Alexander the Great (who, for the record, led a pretty interesting life - the sort of life that should have made a great film) with Colin Farrell in the leading role. Expectations were high for this ambitious film, and after the cast list was released, most people were confident this was going to be closer to Gladiator as opposed to another Troy. The Reality It was not to be, and surprisingly a lot of the blame has to be pointed at the cast. The performance given by Anthony Hopkins is one of the hammiest of his illustrious career, while clearly no one dared tell Angelina Jolie the accent she affected would be distracting and frankly weird. Finally it's hard to accept an Irishman playing the role of Alexander of Macedon. Could they not have found someone even vaguely Mediterranean-looking for the role? Or at least given him a tan? The cast list initially looked to be a strength of this movie, but it certainly didn't turn out that way.
