9. Hell Night (1981)
Poor Linda Blair, first she was possessed, then she had to tap dance through Exorcist II: The Heretic but then she finally made it to collegeĀ only to be pursued by a maniac killer in a haunted mansion while wearing a chamber maid by way of Hooters waitress ensemble. Blair and three others are college pledges hoping to make it through a night at the haunted Garth Manor. After the other students play some pranks on the would be brothers and sisters, it becomes clear that that they are not the only ones in the house. Hell Night sets itself apart from other slashers by trying to make a genuinely scary Gothic film. The kills, while gruesome, are only briefly seen. Thankfully Hell Night goes for scares over shocks which set it apart from its contemporaries.
