Any fans of 2014's What We Do In The Shadows out there owe it to themselves to see one of director Taika Waititi's previous effort, Eagle Vs Shark, starring Jemaine Clement. The film's incredibly simple plot follows a young woman who falls in love with a guy, and accompanies him back to his hometown where he plans on having a showdown with the guy who used to bully him at school. Like most of Waititi's movies, the story meanders lackadaisically, taking its time with the quirky situations it places the central characters in. The random, idiosyncratic jokes are near-consistently peppered throughout, but its the sweet romance at the film's core which gives the film its surprisingly-relatable oomph. Unfortunately, Eagle Vs Shark is criminally under-seen, which means one of the best gags of all time is going unheard and unappreciated. Jarrod (Clement) leaves a message for his nemesis with an operator;
"Tell him that justice is waiting for him." "Okay Justin! Thank you! Bye bye!".
