10 Franchise Reboots That Were Better Than The Original

Sometimes a reboot up the ass is all it takes.

The term "reboot" has become a dirty word. Negative connotations surround the word, with the assumption being a quick cash-grab that loses the heart and soul of the original movie.

To be fair, there's a reason for that assumption. How many times have we seen Hollywood movies and franchises rebooted, only for them to be shallow remakes that did little to warrant their existence? The Mummy, The Thing, Ghostbusters, The Karate Kid, Point Break, Psycho, Charlie & The Chocolate Factory, and every horror movie ever.

Those are just a few examples of the many, many, movie reboots that utterly failed to recapture the spark of the original, let alone exceed it in any way.

It's not all doom and gloom however. There are more than enough successful reboots to warrant a less negative reaction. Sure, if you hear of a Gremlins remake you have the right to be furious, but if a studio announces it's rebooting Resident Evil or Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, let's give it the benefit of the doubt!

Just look at the upcoming Halloween movie, it looks like an excellent soft-reboot, coming off of the heels of Rob Zombies misguided 2007 remake. Thus potentially bringing the series back to its glory. There's proof that it can be done and done well, so lets celebrate those that were even better than the original!
