Batman is never going away. We may want him to eventually, but the hunger for his stories doesn't seem to have abated since the Nolan trilogy came to a close, or indeed since 1989, even despite the derailing influence of Batman And Robin couldn't damage the Bat-brand. There is also no way that Batman is solely going to be a guest in a host of other DC movies without eventually having his own outing again. The interesting situation we find ourselves in is that everything rides upon the reception of Batman Vs Superman: Dawn of Justice; whether or not Batfleck gets a solo film of some sort depends on a lot of pieces falling into place, and until more details emerge it is fairly impossible to predict which way it is going to go. One thing that can be predicted with utter conviction though is that regardless of whether Ben Affleck ever plays Batman in a solo film someone definitely will. It is also surely likely that when he does return hell be bringing the Joker with him. Overtures about the role being untouchable due to Heath Ledgers performance will be revealed as folly and a new cycle of Batman existence will begin, whether we like it or not.
