10 Franchises Other Than Star Wars That Will Return... Whether You Like It Or Not

6. Indiana Jones

Does anybody else get the feeling that Harrison Ford's return as Han Solo, a character he has long derided as "uninteresting" and shown no real affection for, has more to do with Indy returning than anything else? Could we be about to see the return of not just one iconic Ford character but two - or maybe three if the Blade Runner sequel does go ahead? On the other hand the return of Indy isn't something as eagerly anticipated as it was pre-Crystal Skull, which is no reflection on the character but rather the insipid script, which was packed with ludicrously ham-fisted creative choices on every page. The film world would love to see an Indy film done right and the opportunity is definitely there. You don't necessarily have to get rid of Mutt but there's no way audiences would buy him as the lead in an Indy film, but one thing you can get rid of is the Communists. The perfect scenario would see Indy coming up against an enclave of Nazis in the South American jungle, perhaps with Josef Mengele or even the Fuhrer himself at the helm. Return the McGuffin to being a religious artefact required by the Nazis to reinvigorate the Third Reich and you're good to go. With Ford's deal to play Solo more than likely having Indy caveats, let's hope these are the kind of ideas that are being taken under consideration.
