10 French Horror Movies You Need To Watch

3. Trouble Every Day

Claire Denis' erotic horror opens with Dr. Shane Brown travelling to Paris to celebrate his honeymoon. Or so it seems.

Rather than spending time with his wife, Shane is more focused on visiting an exiled neuroscientist called Leo. For reasons that remain unexplained at first, Leo's wife, Core, is kept imprisoned in the scientist's house. Though Shane has difficulty tracking Leo down, he refuses to give up, believing he's the only person that can help him make sense of his life.

It's best to go into Trouble Every Day blind since it's impossible to tell where the enigmatic story is going on a first viewing. Every clue that Shane stumbles upon magnifies the mystery exponentially, and the already bizarre plot becomes more intriguing when Core is revealed to be Shane's ex. When it's unveiled Core is having sex with strangers before killing them, the audience can't begin to fathom what kind of film they're watching.

However, it must be emphasised that Trouble Every Day isn't for the faint of heart. There are scenes depicting sexual violence that are so gruesome, it'll test the most seasoned purists of the genre.
