10 Funniest Things That Happened During The Making Of Harry Potter
6. Mike Newell’s Wrestle
In The Goblet of Fire, underage witches and wizards are forbidden from entering the Triwizard Tournament. This causes a certain amount of outrage from the students assembled in the Great Hall, and no one is more annoyed than Fred and George.
So, determined to get past Professor Dumbledore's magical barrier, the twins try to dupe their way into the tournament by taking some Aging Potion. But their scheme proves to be unsuccessful, and both of them start wrestling each other when they realise their faces are covered in white hair.
When shooting this amusing scene, director Mike Newell wasn’t happy with James and Oliver Phelps. He thought they weren’t wrestling hard enough, so he decided to get down with James and do a physical demonstration himself.
Watching the director wrestling around on the ground was an amusing experience for the cast, and the situation became even more comical when Newell managed to crack several ribs in the process. Though he was in agony, the fact he’d made a twit of himself made the whole ordeal rather amusing for everyone involved.
Subsequently, Newell has said that he probably shouldn’t have taken the risk given he was a tubby 60-year-old man.
