At the end of Avengers: Endgame, the elderly Steve Rogers decided to pass the mantle of Captain America to his friend Sam Wilson, a.k.a. The Falcon. So, why isn't The Falcon and The Winter Soldier titled Captain America and The Winter Soldier instead?

Well, it seems the government has a different idea and instead chooses the unhinged John Walker (played by Wyatt Russell) as the new Cap. Known as U.S. Agent in the comics, he's on the side of the angels these days but his brutal methods and emotional instability make him a very different kind of "hero." Even though the Falcon will likely be the one to wield the shield by the time all is said and done, we have no reason to think Walker won't be sticking around.

After all, the signs are pointing to the returning Baron Zemo assembling the Thunderbolts and a team like that would definitely benefit from having its own "Captain America." Walker has also served as a member of the West Coast Avengers so whatever happens in this show, he's someone who almost certainly has a big screen future beyond it.
