It's not too difficult to see why the legendary Nicolas Cage wasn't in too much of a rush to commit himself to a project that involved him playing a fictionalised version of himself, turning down the role in Tom Gormican's The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent on a number of occasions due to being "afraid that the director would want to push it into that kind of ‘Saturday Night Live’ mockery zone.”

So, in order to secure the most important piece of his Nic Cage puzzle for this celebration of all things Cagey, Gormican decided to add a more personal touch to his overall pitch, writing the acting titan a letter explaining his unique vision for the out-there feature and why he simply had to make this movie.

It was this letter, revealing the sheer level of genuine admiration Gormican had for the one-of-a-kind performer, that convinced Cage to finally pursue this utterly bizarre endeavour.

And so, the world was once again ultimately treated to what the actor would himself brand "full Cage" in everything from the most epic "NICK F'N CAGE!" ever committed to screen to planting a smacker on a younger version of himself throughout the nutty and heartfelt runtime.
