8. The "Alien Invasion" Movie

This is a genre that, in my opinion, has slowly been sliding downhill for the past few years. We've had countless duds (
Skyline, Battle: Los Angeles, The Day the Earth Stood Still, just to name a few) and even worse is that the genre has been taken over by corporate shill flicks like
Transformers and
Battleship. The alien invasion genre needs a shot of new blood, and if there's one thing Quentin Tarantino knows well, it's blood. I honestly can't even begin to fathom what an alien invasion movie under Tarantino's deranged imagination would look like. I'm sure his 70's era influences would come into play and we'd get something both psychedelic and possibly horrifying. Maybe it'd take its cue from something like Joe Cornish's brilliant
Attack the Block and be a more urban story instead of a global one. Guess I'll just have to wait for Edgar Wright's
The World's End until then. Why is it that the Brits know how to do alien invasion a thousand times better than us Yanks?
