The Mistake Batman And Robin Made: Batman & Robin was one of the first films to be killed by the internet. Rather than waiting for new films to arrive and having their say with their money, fans could look into the development process and mouth off about anything like didn't like. Site likes Ain't It Cool News were quick to crucify Batman & Robin, criticising the film at length in the months leading up to release (although much of the ire did embarrassingly come from Joel Schumacher's sexual orientation). Of course, the world wide web was still in its infancy, with Hollywood not yet fully understanding how impactful it could be and thus Warner didn't think much of it until it was too late.
