10 Glaring Goofs That Will Ruin 2015's Best Films For You

8. The Ambiguous Opening Crawl And Light Speed Errors - Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Well that's a relief; J.J. Abrams was able to handle the pressure and create a film that was more than worthy of the Star Wars name. There were issues, sure, although the die-hards were always going to go over Episode VII with a fine-tooth comb. As it happens, they didn't have to do much combing at all, as a mistake is apparently present in the opening crawl:
"With the support of the REPUBLIC, General Leia Organa leads a brave RESISTANCE. She is desperate to find her brother Luke and gain his help in restoring peace and justice to the galaxy."
Grammatically speaking, the sentence should read she is desperate to find her brother, Luke, and gain his help, with the commas before and after Luke implying that it is not his name that is important, but the fact that he is Leia€™s brother. The only way the original sentence would make sense was if Leia had another brother €“ has the copy editor dropped a clanger here or is this some uber-subtle foreshadowing? It's not just grammar. One moment that definitely makes no sense no matter what angle you put on it is when Han and Finn witness the First Order take out the Republic€™s stronghold in the Hosnian system. Given that this was taking place at a different star, there is no way anyone on Takodana would be able to see the effects of the weapon in real time, as the light would have had many, many light years to travel before reaching them.
