10 Cloverfield Lane Ending
Toho

This Japanese horror-drama - about the breakdown in the relationship between a young woman and her mother-in-law after a man comes between them - is an absolutely stunning piece of work, and easily one of the best Japanese horror films ever made. The direction, acting and storytelling are all absolutely first-rate, making this an unusually accomplished and effective horror film.

The one jarring problem with it? It ends at least five minutes too early.

At the end, the mother-in-law has had a supernatural mask fused to her face and the daughter-in-law runs away, thinking she has turned into a demon. As the mother-in-law gives chase, protesting that she is not a demon, the film suddenly ends out of nowhere without a proper resolution.

Of course, open-ended conclusions can be absolutely great but in this case, it was definitely to the film's detriment and it doesn't even feel like a proper ending all things considered.
