10 Good Movies That Completely Botched Their Final Act

8. Batman

One of the world's most iconic and loved superheroes is renowned for many reasons. One of those reasons is shared by many superheroes that exist in that vast universe of pop-culture, and that is to not kill the bad guy - or at least not intentionally. The Batman that we all know would have let The Joker escape and continued the pursuit some other time until he can be taken back to where he belongs - Arkham Asylum. But no, this Batman is a murderer. And if not a murderer, at least a manslaughter conviction is on the cards, because by attaching The Joker's leg to the statue, he consequently fell to his doom. That's not the Batman way. Not only this, but The Joker's henchmen could have simply saved him by hovering the helicopter over the building. Sure, The Joker would have then been apprehended (or maybe thrown over the edge by this edition of the menacing caped-crusader), but at least he wouldn't be dead. All jokes aside, Tim Burton's Batman was a terrific film and highly successful back in 1989, having a big influence on shaping the world of superhero blockbusters today. Jack Nicholson's portrayal of the man who laughs may not be regarded as the most legendary today, but it was a fantastic performance nonetheless, and he deserved a much better send-off than death by gargoyle statue.
