The Movie: One of the best loved horror movies of the 1980s, Clive Barker's Hellraiser couldn't be more aptly titled. After purchasing a mysterious puzzle box, Frank Cotton soon discovers he's got far more than he bargained for, as the box unleashes a flurry of hooks and chains which tear him to pieces. Regenerating his body by consuming blood with a little help from his lover Julia, Frank becomes involved with the Cenobites, strange mutilated creatures from the depths of Hell. The Gory Death: Frank finally pushes his luck with the Cenobites and they finally trap him, ripping his body to pieces with countless chains. Just before the fatal moment he utters the expression, "Jesus wept", a line which has left some horror fans wondering as to its relevance in the context of Hellraiser. Barker's own explanation is simple - the original line was "F*ck off" and the actor, who had been reading the Bible, ad libbed the line. It certainly lends the scene more potency. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MoA63WunEJ0
