10 Goriest Film Scenes Ever

Ah, George A. Romero, where would cinema be today had it not been for the director's famous series of zombie movies? Romero is routinely credited for being the father of the zombie genre, pioneering many of the motifs and conventions we see today in almost every single film about the undead. But Romero's '...Of The Dead' series of films are as famous for their depictions zombies as they are for their extreme violence and gore. Zombies and gore pretty much go hand in hand nowadays (you can't really make a non-violent film about dead people that eat brains), and while Romero's films may look a little dated by today's standards, there are still plenty of examples where Romero's films still compete with modern day horror films.

Case in point: the death of Captain Henry Rhodes in Day Of The Dead. After he murders and betrays basically every single living human he comes across, Rhodes attempts to escape by commandeering a helicopter and getting out of the zombie-infested compound he once called home, except, there's one small problem that prevents his escape... A sentient zombie. Yes, 'Bub' - as he's called in the film - is a semi-sentient zombie that, after becoming enraged at the murder of his mentor, takes revenge on Rhodes by shooting him in the leg and leaving him to die at the hands of the stupid zombies. What follows is the graphic, yet strangely satisfying scene of Rhodes being ripped, limb from limb and becoming just another meal for the zombie horde. We'd feel bad for him, but the guy wasn't exactly the nicest person in the world. Good riddance.
