Doris Day stormed into Hollywood with her breakout performance in the 1948 picture, Romance on the High Seas, launching a 20 year career. She went on to star in some of the most iconic roles of her time including the title role in Calamity Jane and Hitchcock's The Man Who Knew Too Much.

Her career moved from movies down to the small screen, which is something Day wasn't happy about. After concluding the Doris Day Show in '73, she finished a couple more specials and called it quits until she made her final on-screen appearance in 1985.

Following that final appearance, she retreated from the public eye and spent most of her time on her ranch where she nursed sick animals back to health.

Day still resides at her Cincinnati, Ohio ranch where she cares for animals and prefers to be left alone though she does call in to the local radio station when they play her songs on her birthday to say thanks.
