And the coffin is moving. Death at a Funeral takes the anxiety of trying to make a good impression on your in-laws and amps it up by a thousand. In part, it works because it's so relatable. It also works because of how insanely funny Alan Tudyk is in the role. In an ensemble with no shortage of comedy, he can consistently be relied on to make audiences laugh out loud. Even when he's just in the background of scenes that aren't supposed to be about him, his facial reactions and drugged interactions with the world around him are all kinds of awesome.
