10 Great Comic Book Movies That Capture The Genre Perfectly

1. Sin City

sin-city If The Dark Knight is the perfect depiction of a specific superhero than Sin City is by far the best depiction of a comic book that the cinema has seen yet. The film is a living and breathing comic book from start to finish. Director Robert Rodriguez and writer Frank Miller just used the panels of Miller's original Sin City comic as storyboards for the film and the significant leaps and bounds in digital technology gave them the ability to completely bring to life the world of the story. There is no other movie in existence that looks anything like Sin City. The blend of the film noir aesthetic with the partially black and white digital photography gives the film an incredibly well composed style that captures the characters perfectly by giving them an unrealistic feeling. The story is all over the place and showcases many unique characters played by some of the most respected actors working at the time, which truly elevates Sin City to the #1 spot here. The tone, style and characterization completely captured everything that can be done in a comic book and just transferred them to the screen in a brilliant way. Sin City is less of a movie and more of just a living, breathing comic book on the screen. Which are your favorite comic book movies? Share your own picks below.

My favorite movies are Before Sunrise, Pulp Fiction, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Alien and Her so don't be surprised to see those pop up in my writing from time to time. I'm currently in school for Journalism/English and I have an obsession with all things cinematic on the side.
