10. Iron Man
While the most recent sequels to Iron Man were lackluster to say the least it's pretty inconceivable to imagine that they were ever going to live up to the greatness of the original film. The choice to cast Robert Downey Jr. as the pragmatic Tony Stark truly was an inspired bit of casting because he is able to fully inhabit the role in a way that no other actor could. What really seals Iron Man's position here is how well divided everything is. The comedy works flawlessly thanks to Downey Jr.'s delivery and execution while the action is truly exciting thanks to Jon Favreau's direction. Everything in the film comes across as assured and fun which is the epitome of what a superhero movie should be. Iron Man is also one of the very rare superhero origin stories that didn't feel like a retread of what we've already seen multiple times, but instead it was new and exciting. It's really too bad that the Marvel Cinematic Universe went so downhill after such a promising start.
