10 Great Directors Who Should Really Helm A Superhero Movie

8. Alfonso Cuaron

Alfonsocuaron600 This will never, ever happen, but boy it would be truly wild to see! Cuaron is the man behind the best Harry Potter film (that would be Prison of Azkaban for those of you who like quality acting and genuinely good movies), as well as this fall's unbelievably huge hit Gravity. Gravity is that rare movie with a 98% on Rotten Tomatoes that has also made over $200 million. Cuaron is at a curious place in his career, then. I mean, where do you go from here? After Jon Favreau nailed Iron Man, he played a supporting character in the R-rated comedy I Love You, Man - I doubt very seriously that Cuaron is going to turn up anywhere in 22 Jump Street, so he's got to find some other place to hang his hat (preferably one not being made fun of by Jonah Hill). Cuaron would make a damn fine superhero film, and a few more financial successes could give him a Christopher Nolan level of freedom to basically make whatever movie he wants to make. And since I want to see Cuaron's Inception (or his Rango), it'd be nice for him to take the wheel of the third Thor movie or something. It would be damn interesting, to say the least. Also, go watch Children of Men: it is your civic duty.
