10 Great Harry Potter Characters That We Never Got To See On Screen

Order Of The Phoenix began with the introduction of a handful of new characters, none of whom became more of an immediate fan favourite that Nymphadora Tonks, the quirky and clumsy metamorphmagus. The ongoing exploration of the Black family tree reveals her connection to both Sirius and the Malfoy and Lestrange families, with her mother Andromeda being the sister of Narcissa and Bellatrix cast aside for forsaking their pure-blooded ideology and marrying a Muggle-born, Ted Tonks.

Ted and his wife both appear in the beginning of Deathly Hallows, where their home is one of the safehouses utilised for Harry's protection. There is a great jump scare moment when Harry sees Andromeda for the first time and believes her to be Bellatrix, but the opportunity to replicate this on screen (perhaps by having Andromeda also played by Helena Bonham Carter) was not taken and the film takes the action straight to the Burrow instead.

The subsequent mentions of Ted as a man on the run are also omitted, with his fellow fugitives Dean Thomas and Griphook the Goblin simply appearing as captives in Malfoy Manor rather than the only survivors of an encounter that resulted in Ted's death (alongside Dirk Cresswell and Gornuk the Goblin).

Though their general insignificance meant that their cut was understandable, the Tonks' could've been well utilised as collateral damage, as well as to flesh out their daughter's character, which is quite underwritten on screen.
