10 Great Improvised MCU Moments
1. "I am Iron Man" - Iron Man
It couldn't really be anything else.
It's hard to fathom the original Iron Man ending on anything other than Tony's declaration of "I am Iron Man", not least because it provided the perfect segue into Black Sabbath's most famous song (that isn't "Paranoid"). However, the decision to have Tony come out of the superhero closet was made on the spot by Robert Downey Jr. himself, and Marvel's head honchos thankfully realised it was the perfect ending to the movie.
As Marvel producer Kevin Feige revealed in a Deadline interview marking the MCU's 10th anniversary, RDJ's flash of inspiration gave him the courage to think outside the box for the MCU - to be inspired to make changes to the source material for the betterment of the movies, rather than doggedly stick with the comic book lore.
14 years, 28 years and more than $25 billion at the box office later, we'd say it's a decision that's paid off handsomely.
The MCU may have struggled in recent years to capture the heights of the Tony Stark/Robert Downy Jr. era, but as long as it stays true to his example - his willingness to experiment and take chances - then we're sure it'll stay strong.
