10 Great Moments From Not So Great Movies

5. War (X-Men Origins: Wolverine)

wolverine x-men origins What is it good for? Showing how Wolverine has been a total badass for over four wars and 100 years. In one of the best scenes of the entire X-Men franchise, we see Logan and his brother Victor Creed fighting through the American Civil War, the trenches of World War I, and take part in the D-Day landings before finishing with the brothers about to be executed by firing squad in Vietnam, which also establishes the movie's 1970s setting. It wordlessly shows Victor's transformation into a monster as Logan watches him mercilessly gun down German troops, before turning on his countrymen in the Vietnamese jungle. Of course, the rest of the movie was a huge disappointment and couldn't build on the brilliant opening. In less than four minutes, this scene shows us how the seemingly-invulnerable pair have made use of their powers and been defined by conflict, while teasing the bad blood that would see them end up as enemies. It's a real shame that the rest of the movie sucked compared to all this.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
