10 Great Movie Characters Killed Off Immediately In Sequels
4. Laurie Strode - Halloween: Resurrection
There are few movie franchises with as many ups and downs in their time as Halloween. John Carpenter's original classic is one of the most influential horror movies ever, though it was only a matter of time before its welcome was outstayed.
The franchise has enjoyed an upturn in recent years, but not enough to forget the awful Halloween: Resurrection. The movie came along and completely retconned Laurie killing Michael at the end of H20, and then to add insult to injury, it saw to the death of Laurie herself.
This, bizarrely, came at the request of Jamie Lee Curtis herself. The big conclusion at the end of Halloween: H20 was that Laurie finally killed Michael Myers, yet the subsequent Halloween: Resurrection rewrote that story so that the man Laurie decapitated was in fact an innocent man, allowing Michael to return for more.
Not wanting to continue the character's story with such a murder on her conscience, Curtis requested Laurie be killed off in the first ten minutes of the movie. Though still scoring largely Rotten scores on the Tomatometer, the franchise has at least managed to eventually bring Laurie back, and move onwards and upwards from this consensus worst movie of the lot.
