5. Premium Rush - (August 24th, 2012)
Joseph Gordon-Levitt knows how to pick roles better than anybody else in the business. This kid will be one of the greatest respected for his acting ability and versatility in the future. But Premium Rush, the story of a bike courier pedaled into a dirty-cops desperate attempt to stay hidden, was lost in something that all of Hollywood should take note of: the end of summer movie season. This movie gave me two things that I ask out of every film in the world. One, to be entertaining. And two, not to insult my intelligence. An original concept full of fun stunts and energy, the movie does no harm but good. However, everyone had already went home and settled in for the aimless fall movie season when TV takes over after blockbusters like The Avengers and The Dark Knight Rises (that movie that had almost zero Batman) have finished. The movie probably did a lot better in DVD/Blu-Ray sales and rentals, but it still does not help that the movie was the fault of an audience sapped of juice and could not be bothered with an unfamiliar concept and mostly unfamiliar cast. Certainly worth the check out for the fun of a good movie that doesn't really go out to prove anything other than movies are suppose to be fun instead of risking millions on special effects and big stars.
