10 Great Movies That Inadvertently Ruined Cinema

5. Titantic Brought The Movie Song Back To Popularity

20th Century Fox

"Every night in my dreams/I see you/I feel you/That is how I know you go on..." Aw, isn't that sweet? Well, it arguably was the first time we heard it, and now - just like Kate Winslet - there's no love song quite so irritating as that of Celine Dion's "My Heart Will Go On," which came attached to the blockbuster smash hit that was Titantic back in 1997.

"My Heart Will Go On" is one of the biggest-selling singles of all-time, of course, having sold 15 million copies around the world. Pretty much everyone has probably heard it, oh, at least fifty times in their lifespan. So what did Titanic do with this song that ruined cinema? Put simply, it breathed life back into the "movies should have their own song" phenomena, which had died out years before - and rightfully so.

After "My Heart Will Go On" became so massive, though, every blockbuster in town ensured that it had its own sung theme song attached, most of which were downright terrible - remember awful hits like "I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing"? Thanks, Aerosmith. Little known fact: James Cameron didn't want a theme song, but was convinced by composer James Horner.
