10 Great Stan Lee Cameos Not In Marvel Movies

5. The Simpsons

An appearance on The Simpsons is practically a rite of passage in the ascendancy of celebrities in any field, even comic book writers. Neil Gaiman, Alan Moore, Art Spiegelman and Daniel Clowes have all appeared as yellow-skinned versions of themselves on the animation institution, but Lee came first.

In 2002 he appeared in the thirteenth season episode "I Am Furious (Yellow)", the one in which Bart created the Angry Dad animated series.

In this episode a slightly unhinged Lee drops by The Android's Dungeon comic book store to put X-Men comics on stands over Supermans, try to stuff a Thing action figure into a Batmobile, and claim to be able to turn into the Hulk. Along the way he also finds time to activate his "stinky sense" to critique Bart's terrible, derivative original comic idea.

Despite apparently being "banned for life" from the comic book store in a background gag in "Worst Episode Ever", Lee returned to encourage Comic Book Guy's romance with manga writer Kumiko Nakamura (that's the second Nakamura that Lee has interacted with on this list) and officiate their wedding in Season 25's "Married To The Blob".
