10 Great TV Relationships

9. Every Couple in Modern Family

Modern Family excels in presenting three completely different relationships and proving them all to be realistic, humorous, and multi-layered in their own right. Phil and Claire are arguably the most basic, general American couple, but are complimented in the fact by two other relationships that are slowly becoming the norm in American society: Cameron and Mitchell, a gay couple, and Jay and Gloria, a couple only brought together more by their age and culture differences. If you haven't been watching Modern Family, you're missing out on the most wholesome, brilliantly acted and written show on television. Go start at season one and fall in love with every couple, because they most definitely work for it. There's a reason it sweeps the Emmys practically every single year.

Cameron Carpenter is an aspiring screenwriter, current film and journalism student, and self-diagnosed cinephile, which only sounds bad in certain circles. Devoted fan of comics, movies, theater, Jesus Christ, Sidney Lumet, and Peter O'Toole, he sometimes spends too much time on his Scribd and comicbookmovie.com, but doesn't think you're one to judge, devoted reader. You can follow him on Twitter to watch him talk to people you didn't know exist. Oh, and Daredevil is quite the big deal around here (my head).
