10 Greatest "Die Hard On A...." Movies

1. The Raid: Die Hard In A Residential Tower Block

Raid The Redemption
Sony Pictures Classics

Comfortably one of the finest action movies since Die Hard itself, Gareth Edwards’ The Raid once again sees the action take place in a tower block, though this time is significantly different circumstances. At the film's outset, an Indonesian Special Tactics Officer and the rest of his SWAT team enter a slum tower controlled by an infamous crime kingpin. One inside however, they come under heavy attack and our hero is left all but alone.

Iko Uwais’ Rama faces insurmountable odds as he must overcomes an army of bad guys in order to both take the crime-lord down and also win freedom for himself and his fellow survivors. Rama may not technically have been in the wrong place at the wrong time like many of our McClane stand-ins, but he is still a man seemingly out of his depth and thrust into exceptional circumstances.

He is forced to take on an obscene amount of adversaries in an enclosed space using only his own fight skills to survive. The fight sequences in the film are truly breathtaking too. The visceral, bone crunching sequences have an incredle realism and you can almost feel every punch and kick as it rain down. It may lack the quips of Die Hard, but it certainly makes up for it with incredible action from start to finish.
