10 Greatest Astronauts In Television History

8. Alan Virdon And Pete Burke - Planet Of The Apes (1974)

Astronauts - TV - Planet of the Apes This was a pretty obvious choice, wasn't it? There is absolutely no way an article about astronauts on TV could avoid a mention of Planet of the Apes. Based on the 1968-1973 series of Planet of the Apes movies, the television version has garnered a cult following of its own. Alan Virdon and Pete Burke are human astronauts who were trapped in a time warp and sent forward in time. They encounter the same Earth where George Taylor (the astronaut from the original movie) landed ten years earlier. The series follows their adventures on the planet as they travel with the intelligent chimpanzee Galen (Roddy McDowall).
